Ruidoso 2012, Part 1

When Frank and I won a bid on a week at a cabin in Ruidoso this past spring, we just knew it would be fun. Well, we were right! Our giant family vacation was wonderful. Just call us the Griswalds :)
We loaded up on Sunday and headed as far as Lubbock. The kids were so excited! All I have to say about the drive is thank goodness for portable DVD players! Ivey and Riley watched a Bubble Guppies movie about 300000 times. They traveled way better than we expected!

When we got to the hotel, we had to have some mandatory bed-jumping.

After that, we headed downstairs to see Titi, Papa, Rara, Trent and James! The lobby had a neat pond full of fish, which the kids just LOVED. They even gave us some fish food to feed them. (yes, Ivey is wearing pajamas and a Spiderman mask. I can't get him out of these pj's.)

Fish-face

What's next??? Swimming, of course!

love the rolls :)

By the way, we love Embassy Suites! Big rooms, free big breakfast, and free happy hour! Woo-hoo!
The next morning, we loaded back up and hit the road! This was a looooooong drive. I got bored. Here's the evidence:

The view out my window. It looked just like this for hours.

Jerky Chew: Shredded Beef Jerky (Teriyaki Flavor). It looks like cat food. I am so proud to say my husband actually bought this nastiness to eat at a gas station.

And then he actually ate it. Ewwwwwwwwww.

Anyone feel like noshing??

Frank had been looking forward to stopping in Roswell, NM. Let's just say this town is really weird.

There are alien things everywhere.

And tons of cheesy souveneirs

And weird replicas of a spaceship crash??

We still managed to have some fun:

This is no lie: One of the souveneir shops had a book about a conspiracy theory that involved Marilyn Monroe being murdered by the US government because she "knew too much" about the alien cover-up. Wow.
We ate at the creepy UFO-themed McDonald's and hurried out of that town.

At this point, the drive became fun because we were getting into the mountains! It was so neat to see the thermometer on the car drop from the 100's to the 80's. Gorgeous!

And then... we were there!

Our beautiful home for the week!

A little friend was even there to greet us.
